Pack a bag you can carry, not just roll — cobblestones and stairs are constant in Alfama, Bairro Alto, and parts of Chiado.

Three to four nights covers the main sights at a reasonable pace; add a day if you want to do Belém and a day trip to Sintra or Cascais without rushing.
